Security Issues of Smart Vehicles (CSE) Huirong Fu and Imad Elhajj {fu, elhajj}@oakland. edu Potential Applications: Driver Ad Hoc Networking Infrastructure Vehicle Immediate Vicinity Awareness Problem: Road safety, traffic management, and driver convenience continue to improve. But this evolution has deep implications for security, which has been overlooked so far. Security Issues: • Wireless authentication of vehicles Challenges: • Ad hoc networks • Rapidly changing network topology • Vital signs authentication and integrity: turn signal indicators, brake • Time sensitive message application, relative/absolute speed, • Huge number of vehicles headlights, etc. References: 1.
