Second Grade Striking with Racquets Objectives PE. 2. MC. 2. 2: Compare 3 or more of the essential elements of correct form for the five fundamental manipulative skills. What does that mean to you? In this unit your teacher will want to see you use a racquet to strike an object. Strike is another word for hit. There are 6 essential elements to striking. You will need to be able to name and show that you can use at least 4 of the 6 essential elements. You will be asked to this by striking a ball or balloon back and forth with a partner at least 4 times in a row. Essential Elements of Striking: 1. Flat paddle (keep flat as a pancake) 2. Stiff wrist (keep your wrist tight, don’t let it flop around) 3. Keep eyes on the object 4. Side to target 5. Step in opposition (just like in throwing) 6.
