Second Grade Hello! I hope everyone had a nice Easter break. The kids were a little tired on Tuesday, but seem to be back to normal. Hopefully they’ll all keep working hard since we only have a little over 6 weeks left of school. Our last day of school is May 26. We have a few fun things coming up. On April 22, it’s Earth Day, and we’ll plan on walking to Mc. Donald’s to take the pop tabs to them so they can be recycled. That afternoon, we’ll go to the park and pick up trash to help show that we can do little things to help protect our Earth. The FFA will have a Petting Zoo on May 3, then we’ll have our trip to Beall Woods on the 6 th. I’m so anxious to get our class book back. I think we’ll get it sometime during the past part of April. Please stick an extra mask in your child’s backpack in case one breaks. I am about of child-size masks. Thanks! (Only about 35 more days of wearing masks in school. Skills: Expository Text; Reread; Author’s Purpose; Paragraph clues; Word Choice; Prefixes/Suffixes. Math: Topic 13 Test on Mon. , April 12; Start on Topic 14 with money. Spelling: Words with CVCe syllables. Grammar: Articles, this, that, these, and those; Capitalize proper nouns. Social Studies: Earth Day. Science/Health: Electricity and Energy. Handwriting: We have finished all our cursive letters. We’ll be using sentences from the students to correct. Bring them to school or register online. Helping our Planet Earth The second grades at AGS collect pop tabs from aluminum cans to donate to the Ronald Mc. Donald House so they can use the money from recycling to help with the cost of parents staying at their house while a child is in the hospital. On April 22, (Earth Day), we will take the tabs to Mc. Donald’s in Albion, then they will get them to Evansville for recycling. Please save your tabs and send them to school anytime for our recycling project. Mrs. Marvell’s 5 th grade is recycling markers this year, too.
