SECO and the Promotion of Eco-industrial Parks (EIPs) SECO aims at: • Scaling-up resource productivity • Improving economic, environmental and social performances of businesses • Contributing to inclusive and sustainable industrial development EIPs: • Support the implementation of appropriate framework conditions for green growth • Minimize the negative impacts of economic activities. • Increase productivity in small and medium sized enterprises. • Foster the development of low-emission and climate resilient economies.

What has been achieved through RECP? • RECPnet with participants from 62 countries • Development of RECP tools (methodological handbook for EIPs, sound chemical management, etc. ) • In the case of Peru (2016 -2018): 22 RECP assessments: 114 RECP options identified Potential with USD 4. 0 million investment: ü 550 t. CO 2 avoided/year ü 100’ 000 m 3 water saved /year ü USD 1’ 000 saved /year ü Reduction of environmental risks ü Safer working conditions
What comes next? Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programmme - GEIPP (20182023) Peru, Colombia, Egypt, Ukraine and Vietnam USD 14. 5 mio. Demonstrate the viability and benefits of greening industrial parks by improving resource productivity and economic, environmental and social performances of businesses, thereby contributing to inclusive and sustainable industrial development in the participating countries. • Incentivize and mainstream relevant policy and regulations • Identification and implementation of EIP opportunities leading to reduction of the environmental footprint and costs • Development of EIP tools, enhancement of services delivery capacity
