Why WE Chose This Topic: We chose to research Sea World and its Whale Controversies. We had questions about how the Whales were being treated. Also, how their nature would change while they were being kept in captivity. There were some benefits of capturing them and some negatives. The Whales all together in our opinion should only be kept in sea pens for treatment and rehabilitation. Then maybe for show.

The Benefits Of Keeping the Whales at Seaworld: • People enjoy the Whales entertainment

The Benefits Of Keeping the Whales at Seaworld: • People enjoy the Whales entertainment • Seapens can be effective for transitioning a rescued animal pack to life in the open ocean • Many visitors travel to Seaworld to see the most famous Orca of all time- Shamu • Killer Whales like all stranded marine mammals are generally gravely ill, injured, malnourished, dehydrated, very old, or very young do not survive long on shore • More than 11 million people each year have experienced killer whales in a way that is personal, enriching, and inspirational • Their attendence is good. In fact they're on pace for a record year in 2013 -2014

The Negative Effects Of Capturing Whales: • They slaughter Whales, put anchors around their

The Negative Effects Of Capturing Whales: • They slaughter Whales, put anchors around their tails, and sink them to the bottom of the Ocean so that their deaths would not be discovered • Trainers have NO experience in formal education in Marine Biology • Seaworld confines Whales who often swim up to 100 miles a day in the wild to tanks that are the size of a bathtub • Seaworld's "Educational&Fun" activities are physically and emotionally harming these Whales • Shamu died in 1971 after living in captivity For only 6 YEARS!!!!! • Seaworld's corporate incident log contains reports of more than 100 incidents of whale agression at it's parks

Ramdom Facts about Orca's: • The Blue whale is the Biggest Sea mammal ever

Ramdom Facts about Orca's: • The Blue whale is the Biggest Sea mammal ever known • When a Blue Whale dive into the water, it's head is already deeper than mos scuba divers ever dare to go before it's tail leaves the surface of the water • As whale being mammals, whales are warm-blooded and maintain a body tempature similiar to that of a human being • Whales don't drinlk seawater; instead, they extract water from their food by metabolizing the fat • Because Whales typically use their hearing as their primary sense, they have very small eyes in proportion to their wwhole nbbody size • Killer Whales, also called "Orca's", are the largest of the dolphins • Killer whales eat seals, sea lions, whales, fish, squid, and seabirds
