Renewable energy sources and their usage in Tallinn More widespread renewable energy source in

Renewable energy sources and their usage in Tallinn More widespread renewable energy source in Tallinn during centuries has been wood fuel. In residential fireplaces for heating and cooking approximately 45. 2 thousand solid m 3 or 82. 1 GWh/y of several types of wood fuels are burnt nowadays. Some single detach houses are equipped of solar panels for production of hot tap water in summer period and the number of air-air heat pumps (by estimations until 1 000) for covering of base heat-load for single-family houses have drastically increased in last few year Other renewable energy sources have taken into use after 1990 ies. The extraction of landfill gas from Pääsküla Landfill of Tallinn started on 1994. Today on the base of landfill gas produced at an average 9 GWh/y heat and 12 GWh/y electricity
