Down ‘In The Pits …’ • Thrown into the sea, swallowed by a big fish • Feel alone – from God, from others • Bad circumstances – tragedy, victim, consequence of your own sin, personal disaster • Suffocating – things closing in around you • Negative thinking, bad thoughts, life means nothing, feel like you are dying • Weak • No future you can see • Job, Jonah, David, Simon Peter among others that have been there

III. Some Lessons I Have Learned From Being ‘In The Pits’ • The Lord may be dealing with you, and you need to pray. • When you can do nothing, you can pray and God can do anything. Prayer is doing something. • Pray in a humble manner. Don’t get angry with God. • No one likes being in the pits, but God is the only answer. • When we hold onto empty things, we leave grace and mercy and deserve what comes to us. • Learn some Psalms. • Hope is in the Lord. • Complaining and blaming are no substitute for praying. • There is a tomorrow.
