SDCC Senior Project Rubric for Information Literacy Student Competency Levels ACRL Standard SDCC Objective Extraordinary Grade of A Sufficient B- Deficient Fail I. Determines the nature and extent of the information needed. 1. Recognize and articulate information need Describes criteria used to make information decisions and choices Revises research question Cannot define their research question II. Accesses needed information effectively and efficiently. 2. Identify relevant resource tools Selects among various technologies the most appropriate one for the task of extracting the needed information Selects a few appropriate sources Cannot determine which resources to use III. Evaluates information and its sources critically and incorporates selected information into his or her knowledge base and value system. 3. Locate sources Reviews information retrieval sources and search strategy and expands to include others as needed Uses one database for sources Cannot formulate a search strategy IV. Individually or as a member of a group, uses information effectively to accomplish a specific purpose. 4. Organize sources Journal reflects on past successes, failures, and alternative strategies Maintains a journal related to information seeking Journal is unorganized and incomplete V.
