The “Scouse” dialect The Scouse dialect is famous largely because of the influence of the Beatles in the 1960 s who came from Liverpool, where the scouse dialect is located. When spoken at full speed it is very difficult to understand for non-native speakers, often confusing even native speakers.

Confusion Scouse is highly accented due to its influence from the Irish language, and can come across as quite aggressive. However, ‘Liverpool people’, or Liverpudlians, are actually some of the friendliest in the UK, which is a big contrast to the way in which the accent can sound to unfamiliar people.

Confusion Scouse is also famous for being spoken very fast. When combined with the highly accented nature of it, it can make it very difficult to understand to even the most well trained ear.
