Once a Signed LINE-UP is RECEIVED • Once the line-up is received it may not be changed, unless a regular substitution is made • The coach must fill out the line-up for each set. Do Not just use the 1 st set line-up for the 2 nd set
Once a Signed LINE-UP is RECEIVED • Always start entering the line-up with the Player # in box I entered into row 1 for that team • It does not matter if a team is serving or receiving Line-up box I = row 1 • Write the numbers in the left side of the box to allow room for substitutions • Use Pen to enter the line-ups

2 nd Referee & Scorekeeper DOUBLE CHECK that the Line-up is Entered CORRECTLY RED HOTS 7 • Once your line-ups are entered on the score 9 8 sheet 2 c 4 6 TWISTERS 5 3 1 c 6 8 7 X – The second referee should verify that you have written them correctly – Then the second referee takes the line-up sheets and checks the line-ups on the floor – The scorekeeper must also check the line-ups at the same time – Make sure the line-ups are entered correctly and that the correct players are in the correct positions on the floor
Scoring the Set If it is the wrong server – Do notify the 2 nd Referee until after the wrong server has contacted the ball If the serving team scores a point, mark an X in the points column corresponding to the receiving team’s current score. If the receiving team scores a point, mark a O in the points column corresponding to the receiving team’s current score. If the first serve of the Set does not score a point for the serving team, mark a down arrow on the serving team’s next score. This signifies a valid serve, but no point awarded.
Scoring the Set On a subsequent serve, you must visually check that the correct player served. Continue going back and forth between the two teams. Mark an X or O for all points scored. Make sure at the beginning of each service that you have awarded the loss of rally point. NO TWO EXIT SCORES for one team should be the same, they will have earned a loss of rally point (except in the Freshman or Sophomore divisions, where this is possible and should be indicated by a down arrow on the score sheet. )
Scoring Tips • If a Replay is awarded, the scorekeeper records nothing on the score sheet • If a Mind Change occurs, (1 st referee reverses a call) erase or white out any changes to the score sheet • If you have a mistake on the Pen sections and have no white out tape you may X out the mistake and write the correct information immediately following the X
SUBSTITUTIONS • Each team gets 12 Team Substitutions per Set • There is no limit to the number of individual substitutions, as long as it does not breach the Team Substitution limit. • Once a player is listed in a service column, they may not substitute in any other service column, unless there is an Exceptional Substitution due to injury. • More than 2 players may be in the same service column, but those players are locked into that service position
Recording A Substitution / 4 / • Twisters substitute #4 for #6 • Slash #6 – write #4 next to #6 • Slash the total team sub
TIME OUTS 16 15 • Red Hots take a time out • The score of the team taking the time-out is listed first and then the opponents score: Score 16 : 15
TIME OUTS • Indicate to the Referees how many time-outs have been USED • Show 1 -finger for Red Hots on left hand a fist for zero time-outs for Twisters with the right hand
TIME OUTS • Each team in the Freshman or Sophomore divisions get 1 60 -second time-out per set. • Each team in the Junior or Senior divisions get 2 30 -second time-outs per set. • During time outs, check that the visual score is correct
WRONG SERVER • If the Wrong player serves the ball, DO NOT tell the 2 nd Referee until AFTER the ball has been contacted for serve • It is the responsibility of the COACH to ensure the correct player is serving, not the Officials nor Scorekeeping table. • Make sure you give the receiving team a loss of rally point
