SPARK is a National Science Investigatory Project Award for Research and New Knowledge for STEM and Science Teachers.
A project by De La Salle University Laguna Campus, Philippine Association of Physics and Science Instructors (PAPSI), and Science. Star Inc. Designed for the STEM and SPIRAL Science Teachers of all interests, skills and ability levels.
Objective: SPARK encourages teacher participants to create and explore a vision of future technologies by developing new ways to apply current science.
Requirements: 1. Each STEM and Science teacher is limited to one entry per year. 2. Teachers complete a SPARK workshop 2018 about SIP sponsored by PAPSI on (a) September 2018 (Proposal), (b) October 2018 (Defense), (c) November 2018 (Data Gathering), (d) Submit the following: (December 2018). i. An abstract of the project, ii. A detailed project description, iii. A list of technology used that is available at present time, & iv. Bibliography
If the teacher’s proposed project qualifies, the next challenged is with these 3 other tasks: 1. Make a prototype/lab setup/design/computer based set up/smart device setup/etc. displaying how the project would work (January 2019). 2. Create a video showing both what the project does and why it is useful (January 2019). 3. Prepare a paper and publish in the SPARK Journal for STEM and SCIENCE Teachers (February 2019).
The best project will be awarded 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place and will receive a Certificate & Medal/ Trophy (February 2019). Depending on the sponsorship, the 1 st-place and 2 ndplace winners will get monetary awards. Both winners will be interviewed on live radio television, receive their awards and participate in many future SPARK activities
