Task • All of you are scientists working in a team of four. • Your team has been tasked to find out whether colours will affect the rate of heat transfer. • You will be given three different colours to conduct an experiment to find out, which colour will absorb the most heat on a sunny day. • The three colours are White, Yellow and Black. • The equipment and items that your team will be receiving are: – 1 White-coated, – 1 Yellow-coated – 1 Black-coated drink can – 1 Datalogger – 1 i. Pad – Tap water • Bear in mind, you will need to record the temperature of the water in each cup before the start of 15 min and at the end of 15 min.

Discussion Using the data from the experiment, solve the problem below. • In the year 2500, Earth has ran out of fuel to make vehicles move and to cook the food we eat. The only source of energy is coming from the Sun. • As Earth Scientists, you are to recommend one out of the three colours that you have tested to be painted on a cooker that make use of the heat from the Sun to cook. • Explain why your team recommended the selected colour. _______________________________________________
