The brief: In November last year Buckswood School in Guestling, East Sussex were looking to appoint a Head teacher. The results: The advert attracted 626 views which resulted in 20 applications who were filtered down and shotlisted. The solution: To maximise exposure the vacancy was advertised on Guardian Schools Jobs as well as Guardian Jobs as an enhanced listing. This ensured the post appeared at the top of the search listings and was accompanied by a banner ad which ran across the two sites on relevant pages. The vacancy was also sent out to suitable candidates via the Job Match service and appeared in print in the Guardian Education ‘School Leaders’ section. The results: After running the ad for 1 week with the Guardian it was viewed 236 times and the school received 18 applications. One of these candidates was then appointed.
