Home Page & Notification Alerts This is the Schoolnet Home Page. Let’s familiarize ourselves with the page; first, look for the Home Base icon and the white circle icon with the red house inside. Every time you want to return to the your Home Page, find either one of those icons and click to return home. Also notice, the notification icon, on the top of the start page; notification alerts appear here, simply click the icon to view the notifications. 4

You can also verify this information in the My Roles and Operations screen by clicking My Account and looking under the Roles and Operations tab. 5

On this screen you verify your student rosters; request the removal of a section or request an additional section assignment. Please make sure you click into this page and verify your roster before you start using Schoolnet for assessments. 6

What Are Web Parts ? Returning to your Schoolnet Home Page, you will notice sections; these sections are called web parts. As a “Teacher”, you will have the ability to use each part as it pertains to your classes. These web parts were designed to assist you in utilizing the program more efficiently. 7

My Resources Links As an example, scroll down until you see “My Resources” on

My Resources Links As an example, scroll down until you see “My Resources” on your home page. In the “My Resources” web part, you can see here, I clicked the “+ “ sign and this box appears. In the “Name” space I typed My CMS Home Page and in the “URL” space , I typed in http: //www. cms. k 12. nc. us and then clicked “Save”. Back on the home page you will then see a “CMS Home Page” link under the “My Resources” section. If you click that link, it will take you immediately to the CMS webpage. This will be a great place for you to save any resources you are using to create assessments or assignments for your class. 8

Dashboard Features Looking at this page - in the KPI dashboard tab you will find information about your school. KPI stands for “Key Performance Indicators”. Place your cursor over “View KPI Key” and a drop box will appear giving you valuable information about the symbols, colors and abbreviations used throughout your Dashboard. Use the “Benchmark Tests” tab to locate Benchmark test results and the “Report Bank” tab to locate reports that were created for your use.

Standards Mastery Report Ability to use your lesson planner from this report and click on the “M” for Materials to help you reteach a standard. This bar offers valuable information. How many test items per standard, number of students who scored within a certain percentage range, times you taught the standard, times you have the standard scheduled for teaching and the times this standard was used in an assessment. Click on a results link within the standard you want to take a closer look at.

Lesson Planner Calendar The Lesson Planner has many great features to make your life easier and help you stay organized. Teachers, you will see “Lesson Planner Calendar” choices for your personal calendar as well as a calendar for each section you teach. You are able to choose to view your calendar by day, week or month. You are also able to add materials, standards and events to your calendars using the icons on the left side. Use tabs to change calendar view and use arrows to change date Choose the event

To add an event, click and hold the event you want; drag the event to the appropriate date and drop it. In this example, we chose a Field Trip and when we dropped the field trip onto the calendar another box opens so you can add more detailed information. When finished, select the + sign to save. Choose an event and drag and drop it to the date you want to schedule

If you click on the note pad you will be able to add a note to the date. Clicking on the paper clip will give you the ability to add a file to that date.

Instructional Materials & Assignments Please go up to the top and place your cursor over Classrooms again, we have 2 more areas to talk about , Instructional Materials and Assignments. Schoolnet offers an Instructional Materials bank that is always growing. These items are easy to search and can be shared with your Lesson Planner or assigned to your students. Once you have assigned materials to your students you will be able to view those by clicking “Assignments”. If you would, please click on “Instructional Materials” now so we can take a look at what this area has to offer.

Instructional Materials & Assignments Use the search filters at the top to look for information pertaining to your subject. Choose the “Material Types” you are looking for and your “Intended Audience”. Schoolnet uses symbols to help identify the materials. On this screen, LP stands for Lesson Plan and R stands for Resource. Using the links on the right, you can also save, schedule or assign the materials. As an example - click “Assign”. A new window will open; enter the due date, the dates you want it visible to the students, any instructions or comments and click the sections you want it to go to. Click the “assign” button and your done.

Assessment Dashboard The Assessment Dashboard is available for administrators and teachers to quickly view

Assessment Dashboard The Assessment Dashboard is available for administrators and teachers to quickly view and manage assessments that have been created for their sections or school district. My Tests displays a list of all tests that have created, with the most recent modified tests presented first. Recommended Tests appears to school-level administrators only. This shows a list of tests that the district has recommended to schools. School administrators may assign these tests directly to teachers by clicking the Assignment Status and accepting or editing the course-based Quick Assignment. Upcoming Test Windows are used by districts to plan and organize upcoming benchmark administrations by linking a specific test to a test window. Test windows are available in the unified calendar and can be viewed district-wide. In Progress Tests are tests that have been created and scheduled and which the start date is either today or earlier. Upon test completion, student scores are sent to the Gradebook so that they may be included in students’ final grades. Scheduled Tests are tests that are ready for administration and that have a start date after today’s date. 30

You don’t have to create and schedule a test all at once. To locate tests of all stages, use the filters available in Find a Test. 31
