Important: • The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, has ordered All High Schools in California to be closed due to the impact of COVID-19. • This means that every school in the Anaheim Union High School District will be engaging students Online through virtual classrooms. • The purpose of this meeting is to tell all parents and students how Savanna High School will open our year and share expectations of all school staff, students and parents, and to answer questions about the process.

Important: • If your student is NOT registered for school, please do so IMMEDIATELY. Your student will not receive a schedule and will not be admitted into any classes if they are not registered. • Registration is an on-line process. The Schedule: (Beginning Wednesday, August 12) Monday, Wednesday, Friday(Synchronous=School time) Period 0 7: 35 am-8: 15 am 40 minutes Period 1 8: 30 am-9: 10 am 40 minutes Period 2 9: 25 am-10: 05 am 40 minutes Period 3 10: 20 am-11: 00 am 40 minutes Period 4 11: 15 am-11: 55 am 40 minutes Lunch 11: 55 am-12: 55 pm 60 minutes Period 5 12: 55 pm-1: 35 pm 40 minutes Period 6 1: 50 pm-2: 30 pm 40 minutes *15 minutes between periods

The Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday (Asynchronous = Away or After school hours) • Student support days. • Teachers are available to: • Answer questions • Support students • Meet with parents • Students must submit the work due on these days. If a student does not submit work on these days, they will be considered ABSENT. • Counselors will be provided SYNCHRONOUS time to connect with students on these days when teachers are ASYNCHRONOUS.

Expectations for Teachers. . . • Be prepared with quality lessons • Teach the entire 40 minutes • Use Schoology • Have computer cameras turned on • Make the class interactive • Communicate with parents when students are not in class • Schedule virtual meetings with parents

Expectations for Students. . . • Be in every class, just as if it were a regular class at school • Turn on computer camera so teachers can see you. Other students will not see you. • Interact with the teacher, participate in the lesson • Do the work and engage in the process • Meet with the teacher when they have questions • Check email regularly • Maintain grades so they can participate in sports/extracurricular activities when they resume

Expectations for Parents. . . • Ensure your student has their own device. School can provide one for use for the school year. • Make sure your student has a quiet place to sit when they are in a class session and to study • Make sure your student attends every class • Sit with your student in class when you can • Communicate with teachers through phone, email, virtually • Sign up for Parent Learning Academy Workshops.

Expectations for Counselors. . . ● Communicate with students at each grade level regarding tutoring availability, support systems, etc. ● Communicate with teachers regarding their students’ needs ● Facilitate virtual parent/teacher/student conferences, when necessary

Expectations for Administration. . . • Monitor all systems to ensure things are working as expected • Support teachers and assist with lessons and student engagement • Communicate with parents, students and staff, any changes to the system • Make sure everything runs smoothly and as designed
