TOOTH FACTS • Tooth eruption begins prenataly (before birth) about 14 weeks inutero and gets completed postnataly at age of 3 • The number of primary teeth is 20 and permanent is 32 • First permanent tooth emerges at the age of 6 years (first molars) • With the emergence of this teeth begins the transition or mixed dentition period (6 to 12 years); where a mixture of permanent and primary teeth are present.

STRUCTURE OF TEETH • Tooth has a crown and root portion – crown is covered with enamel and root with cementum • The four tooth tissues are enamel, cementum , dentin and pulp.
