SCHEDULED TIME OFF NEW CONTRACT – YEAR 1 (JULY 2011 -JUNE 2012) For the first year of the new contract, 4 holidays will be converted to Vacation days: New Year’s Day, Presidents Day, Columbus Day and the Day after Thanksgiving. This is a straight trade. No one loses any time. The savings to the County comes from the elimination of holiday premium pay for these 4 holidays. VACATION DAYS: 10 -22 HOLIDAYS: 12 New Year’s Day Presidents’ Day Columbus Day after Thanksgiving PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS: 4

SCHEDULED TIME OFF NEW CONTRACT – YEAR 1 (JULY 2011 -JUNE 2012) Now each worker has 14 -26 vacations days (4 more) and 8 named holiday ( 4 fewer). Workers will use these converted holidays just like vacation. The County will be open for business on Columbus Day and Presidents day. A worker may ask for that day off (or not) just like any other regular work day. Workers who are required to work on those days will not receive premium holiday pay. SCHEDULED TIME OFF NEW CONTRACT – YEAR 1 (JULY 2011 -JUNE 2012) In addition, each worker has an additional bucket of time off: 10 Furlough days in the first year (prorated for parttime workers). The use of furlough days will be smoothed out by “paying” for the furlough days a little in each paycheck (the equivalent of about 3. 5 hours per pay period in the first year, reduced to 1. 23 hours per pay period in the second year) rather than just when a worker uses a day. This way a worker can use a week at a time of furlough days without having a very short paycheck. You may schedule them immediately with the supervisor’s approval. However, you must give your supervisor a request designating your choices for furlough days plus some alternates for all the furlough days by September 15. Workers are urged to schedule furlough days early in the year. Use Furlough days and Personal Leave before vacation or Comp time. In addition, such workers will self-schedule (in cooperation with the supervisor) 8 more furlough days. Workers in 24/7 facilities, who generally do not automatically receive named holidays off, will schedule all 10 of their furlough days. Workers have from September 2011 -June 2012 to use their furlough days. Workers may schedule their furlough days prior to September with the approval of their supervisor.
