Mapping with satellite imagery: ü weather forecasts and monitoring of acts of nature; ü ice condition monitoring in Northern Sea Route and in offshore oil production territories; ü ships detection in the water areas; ü coastal areas pollutions monitoring, including oil spills detection; ü license agreements compliance supervision during natural resources fields development; ü nature protection monitoring; ü illegal logging ü land cover change ü other activities in need of near real-time visual geospatial data.
Scan. Ex Research and Development Center Scan. Ex R&D Center has been operating as a private company since 1989 Scan. Ex. R&D Center is the leading Russian company on the remote sensing market that offers a complete set of services ranging from acquisition to thematic processing of Earth observation images from space
The mission of Scan. Ex R&D Center – democratization of access to Earth remote sensing data, which makes them cheaper for the end-user, reduces data acquisition time and streamlines processing of data.
The mission of Scan. Ex R&D Center ü Promotion of the proprietary universal Uni. Scan™ and Alice-SC™ ground stations for real-time data reception based on personal computers and Microsoft Windows operating system ü Application of a comprehensive range of own software for reception, archiving, preliminary processing and in-depth thematic analysis of satellite imagery ü Flexible pricing policy for RS data distribution ü Creation of Internet geoportals based on Earth observation data from space, accessible to unlimited number of users ü Supporting projects of application of Earth satellite imagery both for specialists and novice users of remote sensing data and GIS-technology

Participation of Scan. Ex in the MDGLS Project In August, 2006 Scan. Ex became a participant of the International Mid-Decadal Global Land Survey (MDGLS) Project, managed by NASA and the USGS. The program objective is updating of the global Earth map of land cover, land use change to support the assessment of the climate change impacts and of human activities on the planet. An international network of stations will be executing a coordinated data reception campaign from the LANDSAT-5 TM sensor supporting the MDGLS program through December 2007.
