The height of a column of sample is decreased by levels corresponding to color numbers until the color of the sample is unmistakable lighter than that of the standard. This procedure is applicable to samples in the range of -16 (darkest) to +30 (lightest). If sample is not clear and bright, filter through several P 8 filter circles to remove water/contamination. 4 Examine end windows of sample cell for smudges, abrasions, etc. a. If cell is scratched, replace with a new one. b. Use Kim-Wipes and Isopropyl Alcohol to remove any dirt or smudges. 5 Taking care to handle clean, dry cell by the sides only, transfer enough sample into cell to ensure level is higher than the measuring window (3/4 full is sufficient). 6 Insert sample against right-hand end of the sample chamber. 7 Close the sample chamber lid and press the READ key. 8 Once analysis is completed, record color reading from display screen.
