• Sex ratio is defined as the no of females per 1000 males in the general population. • Child Sex Ratio is defined as the no of girls per 1000 boys in the 0 -6 yrs of age group. • Sex ratio at birth is the number of girls born per 1000 boys. The sex ratio at birth is slightly favourable to boys. This is a natural phenomenon. The sex ratio at birth is usually between 940 -950 girls per 1000 boys.

TRIBALS ARE CIVILISED THEY VALUE GIRLS • South Sikkim has the highest sex ratio in the 06 age group. It has 1036 girls per 1000 boys. Then comes Rajnandgaon, a district from the tribal state of Chattisgarh. The sex ratio is 990. In Gumla District of Jharkhand , the child sex ratio is a respectable 977. In Maharshtra, the tribal districts of Nandurbar and Gadchiroli have a child sex ratio of 996 and 974 respectively.
