Police Information • The following analysis looks at all drug offences and knife related crime incidents within the last 12 months which involved youth offenders between the ages of 11 and 18. With Swindon as the focus, we have seen 153 drugs and 108 knife related offences reported in a single year • The general peak time for drug offences is 17: 00 and mostly occur on Thursdays. • We see most knife offences occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays with peak time around 15: 00

Save a Friend • 20 education providers committed to delivering this important event. They have worked in partnership with Wiltshire Police, SBC and the voluntary sector to shape and plan. • We will deliver this event under the banner of “Save a Friend”. Using children’s and young people’s loyalty to each other as the means to deliver our message. • The dates are agreed – 16 th September to 27 th September. Please can you add this to your academic calendar if this is not already in place? • Operation Sceptre, the Police initiative to combat knife crime, is part of our event. Operation Sceptre is the week of the 16 th September.
Save a Friend • Our event has the full support of the Head of Crime Protection. Wiltshire Police and Avon & Somerset Police have provided advice and resources • The event has been shaped by Police knowledge • Communication teams from SBC and Wiltshire police are working together during this period to send clear messages to the public. • We have resources for staff, parents and children ready for delivery • Crime stoppers are working alongside us • The Chief Executive Officer for Wiltshire Football Association has given support and will promote our event in September across his network of 11 leagues, 262 clubs, 1, 000 teams and 19, 000 participants.
Save a Friend • A motivational speaker has pledged to deliver in our schools during this period for FREE • We have joined with other youth-focussed organisations to deliver free activities for children. This information will be launched during the event. • There are plans for resources to be developed throughout the year which are Swindon specific
