While Saul was seeking to destroy “the way” God showed him the way.
I. Jesus appeared to Saul as he was traveling along the road to Damascus. We read Acts 22 Let us compare Acts 9
Face-to-face with the risen Christ. . . it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him; . . . 5 And he said, “Who are You, Lord? ” And He said, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting, 6 but get up and enter the city, and it will be told you what you must do. ” Acts 9: 3 -6

II. Saul ( now a believer ) experienced two miracles, but remained lost in sin.
He was blinded by a supernatural light Act 9: 8 -9 Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus. 9 And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank
His sight was miraculously restored. Acts 9: 17 -18 . . . after laying his hands on him said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road. . . , has sent me so that. . . 18 And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was baptized;
After having seen Jesus and having experiencing two miracles Saul remained lost, spiritually dead. Romans 6: 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus came to save sinners, but 1: did Matthew 21 not save Saul. . and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. I Timothy 1: 15 . . . Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am

III. After seeing Jesus, Saul prayed and fasted, for three days.
While Saul waited for the preacher, He spent his time in pray & fasting. Acts 9: 12 And the Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying, ( Jesus heard him)
In addition to the miracles God gave Saul a vision. Acts 9: 12 He ( Saul ) has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight.
Saul’s prayer and fasting was an expression of repentance Acts 9: 9 And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
After three days of prayer and fasting Acts 22: 16 Saul was still lost ‘Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name. ’Still had his sins ! Saul
- Faith : He had seen Jesus - Repentance : Three days of fasting - Confession : He obeyed Jesus. . “Lord” - Face-to face with Jesus : Spoke w/ Him - Received two miracles : Blind and cured - Received a vision from God : * BUT. . . after all this. . . he was still LOST.
IV. Jesus sent a preacher to teach Saul how to be saved. Jesus called Saul “a chosen vessel”, Yet Saul remained lost in sin. See. . . Acts 9: 15
When the preacher arrived, he told Saul what more he Acts had 22: to 16 do to be saved. ‘Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His
Wait a minute ! How can Revelation 1: 5 water wash away sins ? . . . from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

Only the blood of Christ that can give one a clear conscience. Hebrews 9: 14 How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Baptism is the point at which one’s sins are forgiven. Acts 2: 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The blood of Jesus was poured out for the forgiven of sins. Ephesians 1: 7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.

Baptism is a faith response to the gospel of Christ. Galatians 3: 26 -27 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
