IT MEASURES OUR GOAL ATTAINMENT v. SATISFACTORY = GOOD v. ACADEMIC = EDUCATIONAL v. PROGRESS = ADVANCEMENT TO WHAT GOAL ARE WE ADVANCING?
GRADUATION! THE FASTEST, EASIEST WAY TO GRADUATE ON TIME IS. . . ATTEND ALL CLASSES FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END AND PASS THEM WITH GOOD GRADES. PRETTY SIMPLE RIGHT? LET’S LOOK AT PASSING GRADES AND NON-PASSING GRADES. . .
Q. WHAT IS A PASSING GRADE? A. ANY GRADE THAT MOVES US TOWARD GRADUATION, SUCH AS
Q. WHAT IS A NONPASSING GRADE? A. ANYTHING ELSE, INCLUDING
KNOW THE RULES! We wouldn’t start a game without knowing the rules if we want to win. So, to succeed in college, we need to learn the rules! For example: Is there a grace period for changes, or do all dropped classes result in a “W” grade? Look at this schedule: Q. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF WE DROP A CLASS BY SEPTEMBER 7? A. WE WILL NOT OWE FOR TUITION, AND THE CLASS DOES NOT COUNT TOWARD FINANCIAL AID. WE CAN DROP WITHOUT PENALTY. Q. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF WE DROP A CLASS AFTER SEPTEMBER 7? A. WE WILL GET A “W” THROUGH OCTOBER 26. IF WE WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER 27 OR LATER, THE GRADE WILL BE AN “F”. NEITHER IS A PASSING GRADE FOR SAP. Classes Begin Monday, January 6 Last Day to Drop for a Tuition Refund Thursday, January 23 Last Day to Drop with a Grade of “W” Friday, March 20 Classes End (16 Week Session) Monday, April 27 We only drop a class if we know how the rules

HERE ARE SOME OTHER FACTS: Ø IT IS CUMULATIVE, COUNTING EVERY CLASS TAKEN, EVEN ONES TAKEN IN HIGH SCHOOL AS A DUAL ENROLLMENT STUDENT OR PAID FOR OUT OF POCKET Ø GETTING AN “F” IN ONE CLASS, MEANS WE NEED AT LEAST AN “A” IN AN EQUAL NUMBER OF CREDITS TO BALANCE IT OUT TO A “C” AVERAGE. 2. COMPLETION RATE – QUANTITATIVE STANDARDS 1. WE MUST RECEIVE PASSING GRADES IN 67% OF CUMULATIVE CREDITS ATTEMPTED. 2. TO CALCULATE THE PERCENTAGE PASSED, WE CAN DIVIDE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED CREDITS BY THE TOTAL NUMBER OF CREDITS ATTEMPTED (E. G. 6/12 = 50%). 3. OUR TOTAL PASS RATE MUST BE 67% OR 2/3 OF WHAT WE ATTEMPT.
