SARANGANI PROVINCE Sarangani is a province of the Philippines located in the SOCCSKSARGEN region in Mindanao. Its capital is Alabel. The province is divided into two parts, separated by the Sarangani Bay, and it used to be part of South Cotabato until it was made an independent province in 1992. It has seven municipalities (Alabel, Malapatan, Glan, Malungon, Maasim, Kiamba, and Maitum) with 140 barangays. Alabel, the provincial capital, is only 16 kilometers from General Santos City.

Municipality of Maitum became a Municipality through Republic Act No. 2189 enacted on May 7, 1959 a 2 nd class municipality with 8, 521 household and 41, 675 total population it is geographically located at the westernmost part of Sarangani Province. The Municipality of Maitum is composed of 19 barangays namely: Batian, Kalaneg, Kalaong, Kiambing, Kiayap, Mabay, Maguling, Malalag, Mindupok, New la Union, Old Poblacion, Pangi, Pinol, Sison, Ticulab, Tuanadatu, Upo, Wali and Zion.
