M 0: 00 Exposition The song begins with the piano playing simple chords 0: 07 Introduction Vocal begins “It’s not simple to say, That most days I don’t recognize me…. ” is sung almost as if she is just simply speaking slowly. The piano notes are being struck giving a solemn but solid beat. There is a slight pause in which three piano chords are played followed by the twang of the guitar, getting ready for the next thought, “It’s not easy to know, I’m not anything like I used to be, although its true…” The guitar can every so slightly be heard accenting notes of the piano and giving a sort of twang at the end of the vocals throughout the song. 0: 26 0: 49 The vocal moves from the solemn sounding voice to a more hopeful but still comparing and judgmental type of voice. 1: 36 It sounds like cymbals are struck emphasizing strength in the music being played and the guitar can be heard as it adds to the emotion of the vocals. 1: 41 Vocal begins, “It’s not what I ask for…” which is again sung as if she is speaking or making a statement.
