WHAT ARE THE SAQS? • SAQs comprise 20% of the May Exam score •

WHAT ARE THE SAQS? • SAQs comprise 20% of the May Exam score • 3 questions total on the May Exam (1 st mandatory, 2 nd mandatory, 3 rd is a choice out of prompt 3 or 4) • 40 minutes to answer (=13. 3 minutes per question). • For the U 1 Exam there will be 3 options, you pick 2 to answer w/in 30 minutes.

TIPS • You MUST use complete sentences. • All 3 parts of the question must be answered. • SAQs are broken into 3 parts a, b, and c, but sometimes part a or part b will have 2 questions within—each SAQ always asks 3 questions—so read carefully. • At least 2 of the 4 questions on the May Exam will include a stimulus of some kind: photo, map, political resources, chart, graph, document excerpt (primary or secondary), etc. No direct quotes are required, but do refer to relevant details in the stimulus if needed to fully answer the prompt. • Limited space (~a one page box) in which to write answers. Anything written outside of the box will not be scored.
