SAP NOUN-MODIFIER LIST Noun-Modifier Structure Noun SAP Descriptions begin with using the noun. For example – the material master for a ball valve would be described as VALVE-BALL. Noun Modifier Attribute The modifier is used in conjunction with a noun to identify the item more precisely. For example – the noun modifier description for a panel enclosure would be ENCL-PNL. Attribute Used to describe a noun in more detail. For example – the first attribute to help describe enclosures (ENCL) is size. Therefore the naming convention of a panel enclosure with a size of 1450 mm by 1150 mm is ENCL-PNL, 1450 x 1150. 3 January 2016

SAP NOUN-MODIFIER LIST Using the Materials List – Menu Tab SAP Noun with a modifier: Not all nouns will have a modifier associated. A dash “-” immediately following the noun indicates a modifier. Noun-Modifier, Attribute 1, Attribute 2, etc. Example: TANK-CIP, 3800 L, HDPE, SS STAND SAP Noun without a modifier: Noun, Attribute 1, Attribute 2, Attribute 3 etc. EXAMPLE: PIPE, PVC, PN 10, SDR 21, D 225, GF 7 January 2016
