Why should I join a sorority?
Why should I join a sorority? • Make lots of new friends! • Get involved on campus! • Have lots of friends/sisters that are going through the same thing you are…beginning college • Participate in philanthropy projects • Learn new leadership skills • Networking opportunities • Find life-long friends.
Benefits that moms like ► Sororities are a support system for your student ► There are grade minimums that each student must maintain to be in the sorority, study hour requirements and can help find tutors or tutoring centers for your student. ► Keeps your student involved so they are not calling home due to being lonely or homesick ► Leadership opportunities for your student ► Networking – its is who you know in this world ► Our students social media accounts are monitored by their sororities. Many have a no tolerance policy for pictures on their members pages that are not acceptable to their standards.

Step 1: Decide where you are going to school It is important to look at your school’s website under student life to find out about recruitment at your school. It varies from school to school—even the date.
Step 2: Learn about your college’s recruitment process o RECRUITMENT DATES o WHAT TO WEAR o HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ACCEPTED IN EACH SORORITY EACH YEAR.

Step 3: Register with San Angelo Panhellenic ► The recruitment forms you will need to fill out are on the San Angelo Panhellenic Website: sanangelopanhellenic. org ► San Angelo Panhellenic Application ► San Angelo Panhellenic Checklist Form ► School transcripts ► ACT or SAT Scores ► Resume ► 2 -photos of you (just you not pets!!!)
Why do I fill this out for San Angelo Panhellenic when I am not attending school in San Angelo? Each school you will be attending looks at your academic career, your social media, overall involvement based on what you submit. ► The schools also like to have letters of recommendation from women in your hometown or communities that are alumnae of sororities. ► The San Angelo Panhellenic members will write these letters for each of the sororities that have a chapter on that campus on your behalf. ►
Step 4: Submit your application electronically Compile the following 4 -5 tems and attach in ONE email to: sanangelopanhellenic@gmail. com PLEASE follow all instructions for subject line and naming of each document and attachment. In the subject line, please list your last name, first name and the college you will attend. EXAMPLE: Smith, Sue UT 1. Registration form (last name, first name registration) EXAMPLE: Smith, Sue Registration 2. Resume (last name, first name resume) 3. Transcript (last name, first name transcript) 4. ACT/SAT Scores (last name, first name scores) if you have scores 5. Pictures (last name, first name pictures) Please attach only. pdf, . doc or. jpg files. Be sure to redact (black out) your SS# on any documents you email or submit)
Step 5: Register with your school’s Panhellenic to attend recruitment A. COMPLETE THE RECRUITMENT APPLICATION B. PAY THE FEE (CHECK EARLY DISCOUNT) C. ENROLLMENTS OPEN IN APRIL AND CLOSE BY JUNE OR JULY EACH YEAR.
Step 6: Attend recruitment, have fun, make friends and have a good year. ► Always smile at everyone! ► Be courteous and kind to everyone. ► Ask questions about the sorority and the person who is talking to you. ► If you don’t think this is a group you fit with, you can rank them lower when you rank the houses.
Step 7: Almost finished ► Contact the San Angelo Panhellenic once you have joined a sorority. We want to share in your excitement! ► Each Spring the San Angelo Panhellenic Council offers scholarships to deserving students from San Angelo who are active members of a sorority. Applications are accepted in May, awards are done in August. We will send you an application if we know where to send it. Don’t be left out. ► Thanks for coming. We are here to help you!
