TASK 2 POSTCARD Carnival Watch the video. Secure Imagine you are on holiday in Rio at the time of the carnival. On the postcard, draw an image to represent what you are experiencing. Write a postcard to a friend describing what you see and hear. You can use an imaginary address! Place Stamp Here Exceeding Imagine that you are at the Carnival in Rio De Janeiro. Complete the postcard home describing the sights and sounds. This is a descriptive piece of writing, The top half is the front. Draw an image to represent a carnival scene. It will show costumes, instruments, movement, colour and atmosphere. The bottom half is the back. Write to a friend or family member describing the sights, sounds and atmosphere. The person who receives this card will know exactly what you have learnt.
PERFORMANCE PIECE Section 4 – Main Groove (Insect Samba) Last lesson we learnt the ‘Break’. Today we are going add a second groove. To help us learn it we are going to use words and syllables again. This time it is a carnival of insects. So far here is the structure of our piece: The texture of our second groove is ‘polyrhythmic’. It uses many rhythms at the same time. We are going to layer in the different rhythms to build up the texture. On the next slide, you will find the all the instruments and rhythms you will need for the second groove.
