Chapter 1 red cats, and black dogs, continuing that a "black man" wanted her to sign his book. Not only did she accuse other woman in her confession, she also said how she had rode sticks to different places. Tituba said that the devil "sometimes came to me as a great hog or a large dog. " Tituba was a Caribbean slave. She was one of the first females to be accused of being a witch. In trial, when asked if she had committed witchcraft, Tituba came forward with a confession. Tituba confessed that, "The devil came to me, and bid me to serve him. " She described yellow birds, This was a shocking confession. Despite the fact that she confessed to a capital offense and was a slave, Tituba was never tried or executed for her role in the witchcraft trials. She was sent to and later released from jail; however, there is no record of where she went after this.

Ways and Tests the Puritans Made. If you were accused of being a witch, here are some tests you would be forced to do: Bible test. Witches would be weighed against a stack of Bibles. If they were heavier or lighter than the Bibles, then they would be considered a witch. Such foolishness! Touch test. The witch had to touch the victim. If the victim stopped their fits, then the witch would be guilty. Witches were asked to say the Lord's Prayer. If they couldn't? GUILTY!!!! Devil's mark test. People looked over the witch's body. A mole or blemish on a witch would be considered the Devil's mark. The witch hunters would gently stab the witches in that mark. If no blood came out, or the woman did not cry out in pain, then they would be guilty. WHY THE DEVIL’S MARK TEST WASN’T ACCURATE: Many witch hunters cheated by stabbing the witch in her mark with a dull knife. This wouldn't hurt the woman, so they would be called a witch.

How the heck did these trials start? Well, it all started when Elizabeth "Betty"

How the heck did these trials start? Well, it all started when Elizabeth "Betty" Parris and Abigail Williams, two girls, started having fits. They would try doing fortune-telling, and have fortune secrets. Betty's afflictions started in January. She was unable to concentrate, barked like a dog when her dad rebuked her, and forgot errands. When she heard the "Our Father" she would scream and throw a Bible. Betty would then cry and speak of damnation. This probably happened because of her demonic fortune-telling. Her father, a reverend named Samuel Parris thought that a prayer could stop her unusual behaviour, but he was wrong. Under intense questioning, the two girls announced who their tormentors were: Sarah Good, Tituba, and Sarah Osborne. Betty then said that "a great black man came and told me that if I let him rule me , then I could have whatever I desired, and go to a Golden City. “ Her mother told her that if the man ever came again and asked, to refuse, and call her parents.

Cakes and Cakes: Not the Yummy Kind When you think of cake, you think of this: Well, we're not talking about that. We're talking about witch cake. Witch cakes were suppose to help see if witches were guilty or not. Witch cakes would be made of simple rye meal and the urine from afflicted girls. The cake would then be fed to a dog. The test was to see if the witch would cry out, since her invisible particles of magic in the urine was now given to a dumb dog.

There were many books in the time of Puritan that made people afraid and added to the witch hysteria. Saducismus Triumphatus was a book of witch craft by Joseph Glanvill. This book tried to prove that demons were alive. It was a book to make anyone frightened. The book affirmed the existence of witches with supernatural powers of magic, and attacked skepticism concerning their abilities. Glanvill likened these skeptics to the Sadducees, members of a Jewish sect from around the time of Jesus who were said to have denied the immortality of the soul. Images from the actual book. The book's Latin title Saducismus Triumphatus means The Defeat of Sadducism.

You do not know who I am one of the women who were unjustfully hanged. You will never know my name. Now I am at peace.
