Never work alone Have the ladder footed and/or tied off Lean into building 1: 4 Check the ladder stiles and rungs for cracks etc before you work Extend 1 metre over the surface you access No aluminium ladders near electricity! No using second top step Working at Height
Check ALL leads before you commence work Always work through a safety switch (RDC/ELP) Run leads off the ground if you can, especially plug/socket joints Keep leads away from water Electrical Safety
“Chemicals” includes cleaners, fuels, bleach, adhesives and solvents Know the hazards of what you are working with (SDS & label) Wear the recommended PPE Avoid breathing or skin contact with ANYTHING if you can If the worst happens – wash for 15 minutes DO NOT decant into food/drink containers Chemical Safety
If you have to shout to be heard by someone 1 metre away, it is too loud Is there a quieter way? Make sure any ear protection is AS approved Think of the neighbours! Noise
Think first! Check all leads for cuts, nicks etc Check for presence and operation of guards Look the tool over generally Don’t improvise If it has sharp bits, make sure they are sharp! Do you have the right PPE? Working with Power Tools
