Safety Administration Guide, 011 Safety and Security Disciplinary Records C. Possible Consequences of Not Taking Disciplinary Action Observing and correcting team members’ work performance is part of every general manager’s and supervisor’s work responsibilities. To not do so is negligent. Not taking positive actions to correct lapses in work performance may also have serious legal consequences. For example, if you took no action after hearing a guest service agent announce a guest’s room number, and later a guest was assaulted in his room, you and the Hotel could be held responsible for the assault. As a general manager or supervisor, you are responsible for taking corrective action whenever you observe unsatisfactory work conduct.
