Inspecting Safeguarding – August 2016 • Child Protection Policy • Staff behaviour Policy • All staff and leaders to have annual updates • DSL or trained deputy available during opening hours to discuss concerns • New reference to safeguarding children with SEN or disabilities • Settings to have appropriate filters and monitoring systems in place • New reference to peer on peer abuse • Judgements will not just be made on the evidence presented, inspectors should probe further and use additional evidence
Safeguarding Audit • Audit launched on 14 th September. • E-mails with information sent to settings and schools. • Follow up e-mail sent to early years settings and childminders • Audit support sheet on Early Years and Education Safeguarding site • Requests for authorisations are coming through • Date for completion 11 th November 2016 • Childminder audit on Somerset consults • Date for completion 31 st January 2017
