WHAT IS SAFEGUARDING? • Keeping people safe • In this case, “promote the welfare of young people and protect them from harm” • If you think that a young person is at risk of harm, you will need to take action to try and protect them • You can do this by keeping in regular contact with your teacher/support worker and keeping to your schools processes • Also teaching young people how to stay safe

CONFIDENTIALITY • Keeping other people’s information private • What is said in the room stays in the room • Unless someone is potentially at risk of harm and it is necessary to pass on the information to keep them safe
