Pre-Annual LTA Registration The LTA Registration process is changing. From November 2018 clubs will be required to have a named and trained Welfare Officer. Welfare Officers must have an up to date DBS and be appropriately trained if the club is to fulfil the requirements of registration. Clubs will also be visited and audited by the LTA from November onwards! One county was audited as a pilot and 71% of clubs had no welfare officer who had appropriate training and current DBS! (35/50 clubs stated they had a welfare officer)
Courses to book quickly! Safeguarding Workshop – Tues Feb 20 th Exeter 6 pm to 9 pm Time to Listen – Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club – Wednesday March 14 th 6 pm to 9 pm This course will support you as a Welfare Officer but you must have done a face to face LTA safeguarding course in the last 3 years Both bookable on LTA website
Coach Accreditation Safeguarding and coaching are very strongly linked. Coaches must not be Welfare Officers The importance of being LTA Accredited or LTA Accredited+ Being LTA qualified is not an Accreditation. LTA Accredited (and +) must undertake regular Safeguarding and Child Protection training and maintain their DBS to retain their Accreditation Again in the same county mentioned previously, an audit showed 50% of coaches were found to be not LTA accredited Have you checked your coaches recently? Is that clear on your website?
