Safe Staffing (NQB) Care Hours Per Patient Day Programme (CHPPD) 7, 0 Care Hours per Patient Day In order to provide a consistent method by which to record and report the deployment of staff working on patient wards/units, the Care Hours Per Patient Day (CHPPD) methodology is applied. CHPPD totals the number of RN, AP, and HCSW hours provided to a particular ward, across a 24 hour period, and divides this total by the midnight bed occupancy figures for that same ward. Current Analysis Data collated during Month 10 indicate that overall CHPPD is 5. 6 hours for RNs, 0. 3 for APs and 3. 0 for HCSWs for PHT (combined 9. 0 hours). This has exceeded the Trust’s aim to achieve a combined CHPPD rate of 7. 8 hours. Over the previous 24 months, RN CHPPD has tracked marginally below the planned level and has seen steady improvement in recent months. For HCSWs, the planned level has been exceeded. 3 | 19/01/2022 4, 0 3, 0 2, 0 1, 0 0, 0 янв-18 фев-18 мар-18 апр-18 май-18 июн-18 июл-18 авг-18 сен-18 окт-18 ноя-18 дек-18 янв-19 фев-19 мар-19 апр-19 май-19 июн-19 июл-19 авг-19 сен-19 окт-19 ноя-19 дек-19 янв-20 Reports illustrate how many care hours each patient received either from an RN, AP, or HCSW within 24 hour periods over the course of a month. 5, 0 Hours CHPPD reporting delineates between RN, AP, and HCSW hours, thereby confirming skill mixes. 6, 0 Months Planned RN CHPPD Hours Planned AP CHPPD Hours Actual AP CHPPD Hours Planned HCSW CHPPD Hours Actual RN CHPPD Hours Actual HCSW CHPPD Hours Author: E Khor – Workforce Information Manager, Executive Lead Nicole Cornelius – Director of Workforce and Organisational Development
