Marriage Divine Perspective God’s plan to “unite all things in Christ” is lived and expressed in the matrimonial covenant between a baptized man and a baptized woman. This vocation to matrimonial union is “written in the very nature of man and woman as they come from the hand of the Creator, ” and represents the union of Christ and the Church. Place in God’s Plan • Trinity – The love of the spouses reflect the self-giving love of the Trinity. • Church – Marriage represents the love between Christ and His Church. • Paschal Mystery - Lay down your life for your spouse. • Dignity of the Human Person – Marriage is a Christian Sacrament. 5

Holy Orders Divine Perspective God the Father sent Jesus to give us “every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. ” Jesus sent His Apostles “to continue His mission” to us. Through ordination the clergy continues Jesus’ work until He comes again. Place in God’s Plan • Trinity – Christ empowers His Apostles with the Holy Spirit to carry out their sacred ministry. • Church – Sanctifies and builds up the Church. • Paschal Mystery – Represents the love of Jesus for His Church. The priest is called to participate intimately. • Dignity of the Human Person – God calls who He wills. He allows some men to represent Him on earth, to act in His name and in His person. 11
