WHO CAN RECEIVE CONFIRMATION? All baptized persons who have not yet received the sacrament of Confirmation Reason: Because if not received, the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist remains incomplete. 9/29/2020 CCC 1306 24
WHY PREPARE FOR CONFIRMAITON? Preparation leads us to a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit – his actions, his gifts, and his bidding – in order to be more capable of assuming our apostolic responsibilities of living the Christian life. WHY PREPARE FOR CONFIRMAITON? To receive Confirmation you must be in the state of grace. You should receive the sacrament of Reconciliation in order to be cleansed for the gift of the Holy Spirit. WHY PREPARE FOR CONFIRMAITON? You need to have a sponsor who is a practicing Catholic. It is recommended that one of your Baptismal godparents be your sponsor 9/29/2020 CCC 1311 27
SPECIAL NOTE A candidate for Confirmation who has attained the age of reason must profess the faith, be in the state of grace, have the intention of receiving the sacrament, and be prepared to assume the role of disciple and witness to Christ, both within the church community and in temporal affairs. 9/29/2020 CCC 1319 28
SPECIAL NOTE Many Catholics believe that after they have received the Sacrament of Confirmation that they no longer need anymore religious education. WRONG!!, WRONG!! After Confirmation they now have the graces to really get to know, love and serve God better, by further study of the Gospels, the Catechism, and Prayer.
