i. STEM Science, technology, engineering and mathematics are fundamental to shaping the future of Australia. They provide enabling skills and knowledge that increasingly underpin many professions. The i. STEM course utilises these knowledge pillars in their application to Skills, Technology Engineering and Mechanics.
i. STEM Practical experiences have been designed to utilise and further develop students’ expertise in each of the following skill areas: • planning investigations • conducting investigations • communicating information and understanding • developing thinking and problem-solving techniques • working individually and in teams
i. STEM YEAR IX STEM Fundamentals Portfolio: Manage a website, Computational Thinking, Experimentation, Data gathering and Processing. Data Visualisation, Designing Solutions Mechatronics Project (Energy, Electricity, Motion) Minor Project: students design, build and program and obstacle avoiding rover.
i. STEM YEAR IX Aerodynamics Research and Test: Students research aerodynamic principles, forces and evaluate various flight technologies. CAD 3 D Design Project Minor Project: students will identify a real-world problem, design and manufacture prototypes to provide viable solutions.
