s Incontinence-associated Dermatitis (IAD): Beyond the Basics Program Description: Incontinence-associated dermatitis is a prevalent but largely preventable complication occurring in all care settings. It is painful for patients, timeconsuming and frustrating for nurses and represents a cost burden to facilities. In this presentation, the participant will learn about best practices for assessment, prevention and management of IAD with an emphasis on high risk patients and care of moderate-severe skin damage. Strategies for skin care will be presented with an emphasis on new technology. Intended Audience: WOC Nurses, wound and skin care specialists, nurse managers/supervisors, quality specialists and other care providers with a basic understanding of IAD and that direct or provide incontinence skin care. Objectives: § Articulate key risk factors for development of IAD and why consideration of risk is important § Describe IAD severity categories § Explain treatment options for moderate to severe IAD Teaching Method and Duration: Classroom, one hour Power. Point lecture and discussion Speaker Information: Leah Bradshaw, MSN, RN, CWS Clinical Skin & Wound Specialist Twenty seven years of combined medical/surgical nursing experience with a primary focus on skin and wound care in both the inpatient and outpatient setting for over sixteen years. Acquired an MSN degree from De. Sales University (Nurse Educator track) in 2010 and Bachelor of Science degree from Wilkes College (1989). Obtained Certified Wound Specialist (CWS®) certification through the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM) in 2004. Member of Association for Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC) since 2013 and volunteered on their Website Task Force. Presently serves as a Clinical Skin & Wound Care Specialist at 3 M for the past 5 1/2 years in their Critical & Chronic Care Solutions Division.
