OBJECTIVE �To convert the rotary motion into reciprocating motion easily.
Definition of Cam �A cam is a rotating machine element which gives reciprocating or oscillating motion to another element known as follower. �The cam and the follower have a line contact and constitute a higher pair. �Three elements : �Driver member – CAM �Driven member – Follower �Frame – to support the cam and guide the follower

DEFINITION �If we have spherical shape at follower contacting end, it is called spherical faced follower. This type is considered to be the modification of flat faced follower because in this type , high surface stresses are produced and these stresses are reduced in this type.
