S 1/2 Lockdown Art Project ‘Sweet Things!’ Still Life Unit 8 week project (Some tasks are longer than other) Please share your art work either on the school Facebook page, Instagram or Twitter. Task 1: Research the artist Joel Penkman on her website: https: //www. joelpenkman. com/ • Create a mind map, list, essay or Power. Point answering the following questions: 1)Where is she from, where did she study, what did she study? 2) Why does she draw and paint food? 3) What medium (paint) does she use? How is it made 4) What is her ‘creative process’? 5) What artists inspire her work? This should take 30 mins to an hour approx.

Task 2: Draw or paint this piece by Joel Penkman. Look carefully at the detail and colours. This task should take you about 1/ 2 hours depending if you are drawing or painting.

Task 3: Draw one of these biscuits using coloured pencil (or tonal pencil if you don’t have any). Look carefully at the shape and detail. This task should take you about 1 hour.

Task 3: Copy one of these composition Joel Penkman has created using pencil- either coloured or tonal. This task should take you about 2 hours.

Final task: Create your own Joel Penkman inspired biscuit/ sweet composition. Look carefully at how she arranges her biscuits that you drew in the previous task. Task 1) Collect biscuits and sweet that you have in the house. Remember you are going to draw/ paint these so choose carefully. Take photos of your different compositions or draw them from life. This task will take around an hour. Task 2) Carefully draw and then paint/ use coloured pencil to add colour. This task will take around 2 hours.
