INTRODUCTION • EXPO means "Exposition, large-scale public exhibition" • The first ever Rwenzori Investment

INTRODUCTION • EXPO means "Exposition, large-scale public exhibition" • The first ever Rwenzori Investment Expo took place on January 30 and 31 at the Mountains of the Moon University in Fort Portal, Kabarole District. • The expo attracted over 2000 delegates from Rwenzori region, other parts of Uganda, East Africa and overseas. • Organizers: Operation Wealth Creation, Uganda Investment Authority and Local Government Finance Commission. • Theme: “Investment for Local Economic Development”

GOALS/OBJECTIVES • It was a multi-dimensional platform with an ultimate goal of promoting investment

GOALS/OBJECTIVES • It was a multi-dimensional platform with an ultimate goal of promoting investment for sustainable wealth creation. • It aimed at unveiling unique opportunities to local and international investors and facilitating new investment partnerships (value addition, create more jobs and incomes for households)

WHAT TRANSPIRED • Various institutions and companies exhibited what they are doing in the

WHAT STOOD OUT FOR ME 1. A variety of exhibited items in agriculture, agroprocessing/industry and tourism-Ecostove & rabbit farm 2. The expo was organized on international standards 3. Language and communication was about poverty eradication with a mature of vision, here & there.

CONCLUSION • President Yoweri, Museveni : • The people of Rwenzori were, “waking up”, and “an industrial revolution is underway”. • The approach of linking agriculture with industry, services and information communication technology is a winner for Rwenzori region, and Uganda. • The need for proper diagnosis of societal needs in order to have social transformation and economic diversification is real. • The ultimate goal is to wipe out peasantry. • Gen Salim Saleh, and his team and Prof. Kasenene and his team did a great job.
