They can be used to combine two sentences which are similar in subjects objects. Adjective Clauses consist ofeither Who, Whom, That, or. Which, Where, and When. 1) Adjective Clause “Who” To describe person. q To place subjective pronouns for person, such as: * He : for male singular subject * She : for female singular subject * They : for plural subject q Application: a. b. Ø The boy Subject (person) He Subjective Pronoun is an SMU student. Predicate lives not far from my house. Predicate The boy who lives not far from my house is an SMU student.

Rusman Butar 4) Adjective Clause “That” To describe person, thing, or animal. q To place either subjective or objective pronouns. q Therefore, ‘that’ can be used instead of ‘who, whom, or which’, but not for ‘whose’. q Generally, ‘that’ is used to replace ‘which’. q Application: a. b. 5) Adjective Clause “Whose” To describe person, thing, or animal. q To state the possession. q To place possessive objective, such as: * His + n : for male singular * Her + n : for female singular * Their + n : for plural * Its + n : for singular animal/thing q Application: a. b. The boy is an SMU student. Subject (person) His father is my English teacher. Possessive Ø Predicate The boy whose father is my English teacher is an SMU student.

That village was the place where his motorcycle was stolen. c. That shady-tree was the place where that car parked and stolen.

I would never forget the day when her husband was forced to build the great wall. b. Hymes had forgotten the time when his ring was lost. c. Ashera will always remember the day when her father sent her to Campus.
