Run the Gauntlet DRILL BIO: Teaches players to work in tight confined spaces under simulated match pressure and includes many game elements including handball to width, spread, communication, decision making, skill execution, run to receive/block etc KEY TEACHING POINTS: • Encourage ball carrier to run hard at defender and make them commit to engaging them • Encourage wider players (B & C) to keep width. A handball too close to the defender gives the defender the opportunity to then engage the receiver if the initial handball is too close Players A, B and C are to work together to get the ball from one end to the other using handball. Defenders are placed in both Zones 1 and 2 and are confined to those zones. Defenders aim to pressure the ball carrier and cause a turnover Zone 1 Zone 2 30 Meters Created by Len Villani - AFL Victoria Development Manager (Calder Region)
