What is Rubistar? • Rubsitar is a Website where teachers can create grading rubrics for a variety of learning activities. • This website provides Rubric templates which makes creating a rubric a lot easier. • This website gives teachers the ability to save and edit rubrics online. • Teachers can either create their own rubrics or find a rubric that seems to match what they wanted.
How to use Rubistar: • Step 1: Register • Step 2: Choose a customizable rubric • Step 3: Entering Rubric information • Step 4: Select Rubric Content • Step 5: Modifying the Rubric • Step 6: Saving the Rubric • Step 7: Printing the Rubric • Step 8: Exploring teacher home : Viewing, editing, analyzing and deleting.
How does it work? • Step 1: Register yourself as a new user. • Step 2: Rubistar provides templates in many areas such as: multimedia, math, writing, products, reading, art, work skills, science and music. • Step 3: Enter the information: This is where the teacher enters his/her name, project title and type of rubric.
How does it work? • Step 4: Rubric content. This is where the teacher is able to select the categories at which he/she is going to grade each student on. You have the ability to choose from varying categories on a drop down menu. • Example: Choosing Attractiveness & Organization as one of the categories for a brochure. The template automatically fills out 4 -1. For a 3 which is good, Rubistar automatically puts “The brochure has attractive formatting and well-organized information”.
How does it work? • Step 5: Modifying. After pressing submit, you will see the completed rubric. If you notice anything that you want to change you just press the Modify this Rubric button. Then edit your work to what you feel is best.
How does it work? • Step 6: Saving rubric. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Make available online. Rubrics are then saved online and can be fixed later on and can be viewed online. • Step 7: Print. • Step 8: Teach home page. Here is where you can see all of your Rubrics you have created. Here you can edit, analyze or delete your rubric.
Analyzing Rubric • Rubistar gives teachers the ability to analyze their Rubrics. • This is where teachers can enter the number of students that received each rating. • After you submit this information it allows you to print the scores of your students.

Pitfalls • Teacher must be able to access internet in order to create a rubric on Rubistar. • Some teachers may not like the content that Rubistar automatically fills out for you. • Need to have some knowledge about the internet

Opinion • I think Rubistar is a great way for teachers to create and share their Rubrics. It is a simple way for teachers to quickly make their rubrics. The steps for using Rubistar are also very clear and easy to follow. • It is difficult to create the template, let alone fill it out but this website basically does both for you. • I personally would use this in my own classroom because I find it to be extremely easy. This website fully creates your grading rubric for you.
