Work Life balance SECURE COST Action The SECURE network will research improved models for sustainable researcher careers in Europe, producing policy briefs, and finally disseminating and communicating these reports to EU Policy makers, Advocacy Agencies and International Organisations. The impact will be that these Policy Makers will make better informed decisions regarding researcher career paths and careers. Improved policy should lead to improved quality of research output, and better more efficient use of research funding.
Work Life balance SECURE COST Action l l l Addressing Societal Questions: SECURE examines whether the researcher career model currently available to European researchers is ‘societally’ correct; i. e. does the existing short term contact employment model used in the research world enable happy and productive citizens. It examines the lack of career paths available for the Early Stage Researcher, where the majority face the requirement to leave research after their first postdoc, due to lack of career progression opportunities and appropriate supporting funding structures. It examines the lack of career progression to senior researcher for women. It examines the lack of research career opportunities for the Social Sciences and Humanities, as opposed to STEM where most of the funding is focused.
