General Status Update • • • Kicked off with a Product Nomination in 2018

General Status Update • • • Kicked off with a Product Nomination in 2018 A Drafting Group (DG) does the technical work and produces Product Change Requests (PCRs) The Product Development Group (PDG) votes on PCRs and drafts are built - • • • 4 Most recent FOM draft is version 2. 2. It is freely available in the SISO Digital Library. Experimental FOM modules are also developed and made available. Most complex areas have been covered, but a general review of RPR FOM vs DIS 7 remains to be done, plus a lot of editing We hope to have a final draft available end of 2020 Optimistically this results in a published standard in 2021

PCRs for approval for next draft • PCR-023 Synthetic Environment • PCR-024 Radio Type

PCRs for approval for next draft • PCR-023 Synthetic Environment • PCR-024 Radio Type datatype • PCR-025 Radio Modulation parameters • PCR-026 Minefield • PCR-027 Information Operations • PCR-028 Encoded Audio Sample Rate Unit • PCR-029 Electromagnetic Emissions Supplemental Data 6

PCR-023 Synthetic Environment • • 7 The SISO-REF-010 Enumerations document has introduced new Synthetic Environment object appearance fields / records since the RPR FOM v 2 was published. To maintain compatibility with DIS, the proposal is to add the new appearance capabilities to RPR FOM. New SE objects: Speed. Bump, Wire, Bridge, Disturbed. Earth, Pothole, Tree, Building. Rubble New specific appearance bits for existing objects Alongside this, a comparison between RPR FOM v 2 and DIS v 7, with respect to the Synthetic Environment PDUs, shows a minor difference in one Gridded Data PDU field. The proposal is that this should be updated to match DIS in the RPR FOM.

PCR-024 Radio Type datatype • The Radio Entity Type field in the Transmitter PDU

PCR-024 Radio Type datatype • The Radio Entity Type field in the Transmitter PDU type has a new representation in DISv 7 when compared to DISv 6. The proposal is that the RPR FOM should be updated to match the DISv 7 representation. DIS v 6 8 DIS v 7

PCR-025 Radio Modulation parameters • New enumerations and a modulation parameter • 9 record

PCR-025 Radio Modulation parameters • New enumerations and a modulation parameter • 9 record require changes to the Transmitter PDU. Also some Transmitter PDU capabilities represented in DIS v 6 / v 7 are not represented in RPR FOM 2. 0 Add missing Spread Spectrum technique as individual attributes in the Radio. Transmitter object class: • Frequency. Hop. In. Use • Pseudo. Noise. In. Use - Remove the RFModulation. System. Type attribute - Replace the Spread. Spectrum attribute (and associated variant record struct / RPR FOM enumeration) by a new variant struct attribute “RFModulation. System. Parameters, where the discriminant is the Transmitter. Modulation. Type. System Enum 16 enumeration and the alternatives are fixed record structures representing the relevant Modulation Parameter.

PCR-026 Minefield • • • 10 The implementation of the PCR-RPR-007 “SISO-REF -010” into the RPR FOM 3. 0 draft 2 revealed that in the RPR FOM 2. 0 Minefield module an enumeration is used that is a merger of multiple SISO-REF-010 enumerations. This requires a change for RPR FOM 3. 0 to be able to use the individual enumerations. Subsequent comparisons revealed a few more inconsistencies in the translation of the Minefield family and Synthetic Environment family PDUs to the RPR FOM classes. Furthermore, DIS v 7 introduced a change to the name of a field, effectively being a semantical change.

PCR-027 Information Operations • DIS v 7 (IEEE Std 1278. 1™-2012), section 5. 13 and 7. 12, introduces PDUs for Information Operations, such as electronic warfare (EW), computer network operations (CNO), psychological operations (PSYOP), military deception (MILDEC), and operations security (OPSEC). 11

It currently is bit/second, whereas it should be (samples) per second. Use new Simple Datatype: Sample. Rate. Hertz. Unsigned. Integer 32 Use it in the struct Audio. Data. Type. Struct

PCR-029 Electromagnetic Emissions Supplemental Data • DIS v 7 (IEEE Std 1278. 1™-2012) introduced

PCR-029 Electromagnetic Emissions Supplemental Data • DIS v 7 (IEEE Std 1278. 1™-2012) introduced • 13 the Standard Variable Specification record, a blueprint for specific Standard Variable (SV) records. For the EE PDU, three SV records have been defined, one to be able to supplement radar beams and two to supplement jammer beams in case of specific jamming modes. As RPR FOM version 3 is to provide the same capabilities for distributed simulation using HLA as available using DIS v 7, the capability to publish this data needs to be added.
