Introduction 36 x Ø 15. 3 mm CK 50 coaxial signal cables (18 cables from RPD Point 1 -2 and 18 cables from RPD Point 1 -8) shall be routed from the RPD detectors in the LHC tunnel to USA 15. From the RPD detectors (TAN is around 140 m far from US 15), the cables are routed to US 15, then they pass into the holes in the concrete wall and arrive in UX 15 at level 6 on US side. From here they have to be pulled via the technical galleries to USA 15 up to Y. 30 -11. A 1. The cables will be routed from a Patch Panel located max 10 m far from the TAN to a Patch Panel in proximity of the rack in USA 15 (either below the fake floor or better over the rack) 3

From TAN side A to US 15 TAN side A is located around 140 m far from ATLAS IP, in the portion of LHC tunnel between point 1 and point 8. From the centre of the TAN the cables will be routed along the vertical tray that arrives to the longitudinal ceiling tray (L 28 A EC). On this tray the cables run towards ATLAS. Once they arrive to the larger part of the tunnel, the tray makes a right turn running along the wall up to the green door. Just before the door, the cables jump in the cable tray that go on the left along the wall arriving to the metallic structure which creates an upper floor. Here the cables jump in the tray L 17 B EC and enter in the corresponding hole in the wall. Exiting the hole, the cables are in US 15 and continue in the tray L 17 A EC (top one) passing into the technical gallery. At the end of the gallery they make a 90° turn on the left and then a 90° turn on the right following the wall towards side C (new cable trays are needed) up to hole 8. From US 15 to UX 15 HS-USA L 1 Just before hole 8, the cables coming from side A join the other coming from side C and all cable continue together. Once in UX 15, the cables continue down into the vertical tray in level 6 (CT/X. W. V. 50 -01. X 6/6 L). At the end of this tray, a new vertical tray is needed (CT/X. W. V. 50 -01. X 4/6 L). The cables continue down up to level 3. Here they jump out and continue in the horizontal tray (CT/X. HS. H. 34: 53 -01. X 3/6 L_2) towards side C. On this tray the cables reach the ring tray (CT/X. RC 2. S 15 -1/6 L 2 -1) going down and passing below ATLAS to reach HS-USA side. Once on HS-USA side, the tray becomes CT/X. RC 2. S 11 -13/6 L 2 -1. Here the cables jump in the adjacent tray (CT/X. RC 2. S 11 -13/6 L 1 -1). In level 1 they jump in CT/TE 16. RC 2 B 11 -A 2/6 L 2 -2. At the entrance of the TE 16 gallery the cables jump into CT/X. DPC -TE 16/6 L 2 -3 and arrive to USA 15. CT/X. From UX 15 HS-USA L 1 to USA 15 All cables continue in CT/X. DPC-TE 16/6 L 2 -3 towards TE 16 technical gallery. Just before the entrance of the gallery the cables continue on the same tray up to USA 15 level 1. The cables then run on the same tray up to USA 15 level 1. Once arrived in USA 15, they exit the vertical tray and reach one of the trays below the false floor to reach the nearby rack Y. 30 -11. A 1. Exiting the vertical tray is very complicated because there a lot of other cables. An alternative solution can be to continue up on the tray, make a hole in the wall and add a new cable tray over the racks so that the cables enter in the rack from above. Hole in the wall New tray 8
