No Ink and No Toner Needed The Pre. Peat printer uses thermal technology and special reusable printer sheets to print without ink. The rewritable printer sheets are made out of PET film/plastic. The RP 3100 reuses old printer sheets by erasing old information and printing new information.

Going Green The RP 3100 Pre. Peat was exhibited at an Eco Fair in December 2009 in Tokyo(Sustainable Society and Global Warming Prevention). Each rewritable sheet can be used up to 1000 times. Separate sheet cleaning units can be used to clean sheets. Careful disposal of old cartridges and toners is unnecessary.
Problems The RP 3100 Printer is not yet on the market and is still in the stages of Research and Development. The estimated cost of the RP 3100 Printer is $5600 US. The printer sheets are expected to cost around $3. 50. Print time is approximately 13 seconds to erase and 10 seconds to write.
Problems Cont’d Researcher is having problems printing on both sides of the paper. Reported problems with printing in color.
